    <summary type="html">CEO: Daimler plans to produce first electirc car  in 2010

STUTTGART (Thomson Financial) – Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche said the company wants to produce the first electric car in 2010, with both small car unit Smart brand and luxury Mercedes-Benz launching their own models by that year.

In a pre-release of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung&#039;s Saturday edition, Zetsche said the price will depend on whether the electric batteries will be sold together with the car or whether the batteries would be leased out.

General Motors CEO Rick Wagoner has said the company plans to launch an electric car in 2010, called the Chevrolet &amp;quot;Volt&amp;quot; with a price of around $30,000.
