LA 모터쇼에서의 현대

현대자동차는 LA 모터쇼에서 "Blue is the new green movement" 에 합류했다. 여기서 현대는 "Blue Drive'라는 연비 계획을 발표했다. 계획의 요점은 2015년까지 연방 의무 연비 규정인 CAFE 35mpg를 작년에 수정된 법안의 2020년까지가 아닌 2015년 까지 앞당겨 충족시킨다는 것이다.

현대는 현재 미국에서 Toyota Honda와 같이 CAFE 우수업체의 위치를 수년간 유지해오고 있으며 향후 최우수 메이커의 자리를 점하겠다는 것. 현대는 자체기술로 개발한 Hybrid Drive System을 2010년 Sonata로 데뷰할 목표를 갖고 있다. 이번 LA 모터쇼에서 Sonata hybrid를 볼 수 있을 것으로 기대했는데 새로 디자인된 Sonata에 적용할 Drive system 만을 전시한다.  
Hybrid Blue Drive 는 30kw/151 lb-ft 모터/제너레이터에 6속 자동변속와 접합한다. 아래 3개의 저속 기어는 보통 변속기보다 기어 비율이 커서 낮은 속도에서도 주행할 수 있도록 했다. .

Toyota Camry CNG Hybrid

 Hybrid Concept gets early reveal

이번 LA 모터쇼에서 공개하는 Toyota Camry CNG hybrid concept car가 천연개스로 하이브리드 시너지를 결합하는 아이디어를 촉발시켰다. 이번 LA모터쇼에 데뷰하는 이 차는 라디에터 그릴이 없는 후론트엔드로 쉽게 알아볼 수 있다고 한다. 트렁크 스페어타이어를 놓는 공간에 두개의 탱크가 장착된 CNG 연료의 Camry hybrid는 Open Road Blog에 의하면 한번 충전에 250마일 (400km)를 주행할 수 있다고 한다. 거기에 CNG개스는 휘발유보다 배출개스가 적고 게다가 가격도 싸다. 대신에 어려운 점은 CNG통은 원통형이어야  하기 때문에 최선의 장착성을 위한 모양을 포기할 수 밖에 없다. 또한 CNG는 휘발유보다 밀도가 낮으므로 출력이 휘발유만 못하다는 것. CNG 하이브리드 카를 위한 인프라스트럭쳐가 아직은 미흡하다. 전국에 대략 1,000곳 정도의 CNG 충전소가 있다고 도요다가 발표했다. 그래서 도요다는 조만간 생산계획은 없다고.  단지 모터쇼에 Toyota의 환경친화 기술개발 노력의 이미지를 위한 것이라고 한다.

부끄러운 유원지 환경

해외 트레팅을 할 때마다 느낀 일이다. 작년 네개 나라의 유명산을 오르면서 느낀 것은 등산로에 사람들이 버린 쓰레기가 없었다 것이다.  담배꽁초나 쓰고 버린 휴지, 과일 껍질 같은 것도 볼 수가 없다. 깨끗했다. 공원입구에 들어서면 상점이라고는 눈씻고 봐도 없다. 관광안내 사무실 뿐이였다. 공원안을 관리를 잘하기 때문이다. 상점 영업을 허락하지 않기 때문이다.

우리나라 국립공원은 가관이다. 계곡에 자리가 좋다고 생각되는 곳에는 여지 없이 돗자리를 깔고 영업을 하고 있다. 술 장사다. 공원 안팍 모두 등산로 양쪽에 주점, 식당, 일반상점들이 줄지어 자리잡고 호객행위를 하고 있다. 이런 상점들 때문에 계곡물은 오염되고 있다. 음식물 쓰레기와 설거지 물이 계곡으로 흘러 들어오기 때문이다.  지금 우리정부에서는 왜 이런 것을 방치하고 있는지?

깊어가는 가을

숨은벽 바위에서 혹은 백운대에서 밤골로 내려오는 계곡길에 이런 작은 소가 있다. 십여미터의 낮은 절벽위에 자리 잡은 바위위에 고힌 물이다.

이 작은 소(沼)에서 흘러 내리는 물줄기. 여름 우기 같으면 물이 제법 콸콸 폭포같이 흘러 내리겠지만 지금은 가을 가뭄에 계곡의 물도 말랐다. 병아리 오줌 같지 졸졸 흘러 내리는 게 오히려 귀엽다.

가을 가믐이 심각한 것 같다.

낙엽 밟는 기분은 봄 여름에는 느낄 수 없는 묘한 느낌을 준다.

계절이 바뀌고, 한해가 저물어 간다는 것을 실감하면서 지난 일들을 생각하게 한다.

낙엽을 밟을 때 나는 소리와 먼지가 섞인 낙엽 부서지는 냄새는  
도시에서 코끝에 익은 매연 냄새와 다르다. 상큼한 공기 냄새를 느껴진다.

가을이 깊어간다.
조금 있으면 추운 겨울에 눈 덮힌 산길을  오르고 있겠지.

아름다운 백마로 가로수 뽑고 경전철을..

내가 살고 있는 경기도 고양시 일산 신도시에 있는 백마로이다. 가로수가 줄지어 있는 이 거리의 모습은  일산 호수공원 못지 않게 일산 시만들의 사랑을 받고 있는 아름다운 거리다.

요즘 이 도로위에 경전철을 설치한다는 계획이다. 인근 식사동과 일산 신도시를 연결하는 경전철이라고 한다. 일산 시민의 서울 - 일산간 소통 문제 해결과는 전혀 상관이 없다. 현재의 교통 문제를 더 키우는 이상한 논리다. 일산신도시 주위의 소도시와 연계를 한다면 마을 버스로도 충분하다, 오히려 버스가 편리한 수단이다. 크게 예산이 들 것도 없다. 그런데도 굳이 경전철을 밀어 부치려는 그들의 속셈이 의심스럽다. 혹시...?

5,000억원에 가까운 엄청난 세금 낭비이다. 엄청난 예산을 쏟아 부어 완공되어도 운영 이익은 물 건너간 얘기라고 한다. 기대하기 힘들다. 결국 주민혈세로 적자를 메우겠다는 것이다.

이 아름다운 백마로 중앙에 12 - 15 미터가 넘는 6층 아파트 높이의 경전철 교각을 줄지어 세워진 것을 상상해 보라. 볼성 사나운 제 2의 청계천 고가도로 밖에 안된다. 경제적 논리, 환경적 논리, 효용성의 논리에 맞지 안는다. 망가진 도시 미관은 무엇으로 보상 받을 것인가? 경전철이 지나는 주변 주민들의 사생활 침해는 어떻게 보상할 것인가? ,

교통문제 관점에서 보았을 때 이는 전혀 실익이 없는 예산 낭비다. 고양시는 경전철 계획을 당장 취소하고 대안을 찾는 주민의 목소리를 들어주기 바란다.

The wide avenue showing in the pictures below is Baegmaro (could be translated as White Horse Ave) in Ilsan city and it is loved by Ilsan people and it is a pride of Ilsan together with the Ilsan Lake Park.

Sometime ago the city announced a plan that it will build a high elevated (45- 50 ft. from the ground) electric railway along this beautiful avenue to connect with a city nearby as a people mover. More than half of the people in Ilsan who love the city oppose the idea. The city officials tried to justify themselves for the plan. The majority of citizens in Ilsan, however, do not support it from econmical and environmental view point and also in a sense of conservancy of the aesthetic area (White Horse Ave) not to mention the uncertain efficiency of transpotation of poeple between the cities. The data the city revealed to the citizens seemed to be exaggerated but did not make a business sense at all but only a waste of budget. This project should be cancelled immediately.

It IS ridiculous.

백마로 가로수가 단풍이 들어 아름답다. 이 도로는 일산 신도시의 가장 아름다운 도로이다. 중앙 분리대에 심어져 있는 아름다운 나무를 뽑아 버리고 그자리에 경전철 교각을 줄지어 세운다고 한다.

정발산 기슭에 있는 유명 건축가가 설계하며 지은 아름다운 주택.. 이런 집들 지붕 위로 경전철이 지나갈 판이다.

Smart 판매목표 20,000 대로

Smart가 처음으로 꼬마 자동차 ForTwo를 미국에 진출키로 결정했을 때 자동차메이커, 펜스케(딜러), 미국의 디스트리뷰터는 금년 판매 목표를 20,000대로 못을 박았다. 그 목표는 왔다 지나갔다. 판매는 목표보다 두달을 앞서 가고 있기 때문이다. 8월 초에 펜스케가 24,000대에서 27,500 대 사이로 판매의 기대를 높였기 때문이다. 그러나 이 수치는 지난 석달 동안에 7,000대를 인도했기 때문에 달성하기 힘들어 보이지 안는다. 생산만 충분히 된다면 목표이상 판매할 수 있다고 이해하고 있다. 텍사스주, 달라스의 패트릭 지퍼 딜러에 자동차가 인도되었다. 질문은 내년에도 계속 성공적일 것인가 이다.

10월의 마지막 날을 보내면서

처음보다 막판에 시간이 더 빨리 간다고 많은 사람들이 말한다.
연중 상반기 보다는 하반기가 시간이 더 빨리 지나가는 것 같다. 직장 생활할 때 영업본부에서 종사하면 언제나 실적 마감이 되는 날이 가까워지면, 월말이던, 분기말이던, 연말이던 마감 일이 닥아오면 시간이 더 빨리 지나감을 느끼곤 했었다. 없는 집 제삿 날 돌아오듯 한다고 한다. 마음이 급해서 일까?  목표는 아직도 저기 천정에 매달려 있는데...

젊었을 때 보다는 노년이 되어 세월이 빨리 간다고 한다. 어른들이 예전에 그렇게 말하는 것을 가끔 들었다. 운 좋게 다른 사람들 보다 오래 직장 생활을 한 나는 스스로를 복받은 사람이라고 생각했다. 그리고  마음 편하게 자발적으로 은퇴를 선언하고 직장을 떠났다. 편안하게 운퇴후의 생활을 여행하면서 즐겁게 살고 싶었었기 때문이다. 이제 누구한테 영업 실적 보고할 일도 없다. 뭐에 쫒길 일도 없다. 월초가 월말 같고, 월말이 월초 같은 데도 세월이 지나가는 것 보면 무섭게 빠르게 지나가는 것을 느낀다. 후다닥 한달이 지나간다.

이렇게 몇번하니 이제 "10월의 마지막 날"이 되었다. 웬지 가는 세월이 등을 써늘하게 만드는 것 같다. 내 생활을 더 즐겁게 활력을 넣어야 겠다는 생각이 든다. 연초에 작심했던 忍. 恕. 正. 과연 이렇게 살았는지? 이런 생각을 얼마나 하면서 살았나.. 되돌아 보게 된다.
그러나 忍耐하지도 못했고, 남을 容恕하지도 않았고, 그렇다고 대단하게 바르게 산 것 같지도 않다.  다행하게도 연초에  건강을 유지하고 있으니 그나마 다행이라고 자위한다. 덕분에 바라던 해외 원정 트레킹도 세차례나 했으니 누구에게나 감사할 따름이다.

이제 2008년 남은 두달을 어떻게 보람있게 보내야겠다는 생각을 한다.

Peugeot 308 HDI 연비시험

오스트랄리아와 영국에서 획득한 초저연비 증명에 만족하지 않고 Peugeot는  소형차 308 HDI를 가지고 남아공에서 연비 시범을 보였다. 308 은 남아공의 1,689.7km에 이르는 Coast2Coast 즉 East Coast kleinzee 에서 West Coast Umhlanga 까지 재 주유 없이 주행하는 시험을 했다.

이 차의 평균 연료 소비는 100km 에 3.4-liter 였다. 이는 미국 표준으로 69.15 mpg 라는 놀라운 기록을 냈다.. 우리 표준으로 29.4km/liter. 이 모델은  diesel particulate filter를 장착한 1.6-liter, 110 hp, 자동 더블 클럿치 변속기, EGS6 로 명명된 차다. 배출 개스량은 CO2 120g/km로 기준을 맞춘다.

Top 10 Most Fuel efficient Cars for 2009 (2009년 세계 10대 최고 연비 모델) 과 비교해도 Peugeot 308의 연비가 비교도 안되게 좋다.

2009 연비가 가장 좋은차 10

미국 EPA (Environment Protection Agency)가 2009 Fuel Economy Guide를 발간했는데 Smart와 VW diesel이 처음으로 연비 좋은 Top 10 에 등재되었다. Smart는 금년 1월에 미국에 상륙했기 때문에, diesel VW은 배출가스 규정을 만족시키지 못해서 Top10 에 오르지 못했었다.

Toyota Prius로 미국에서 판매되는 차중에 가장 연비가 좋은 차로 올랐으며 Top 10의 나머지 차종은 hybrid 이다. 반대로 개솔린을 가장 많이 잡아 먹는 차로는 Lamborghini Murcielago.
아래에 Top10 과 캐디고리 별 최고의 마일리지 모델도 올렸다. 참고하시기를 ...

Tianmen Cave - Heaven Gate 天門洞

Tianmen CAve is the natural water-eroded cave with the highest elevation in the world. In year 263, the thousand meter high cliff of Songliang mountain suddenly broke up into a door-like cave which became a rare wonder of the world. Hence the name of Songliang mountain changed to Tianmen(heaven gate) mountain.
Tianmen cave runs south-northward with a height of 131.5 meters, a width of 57 meters and a depth of 60 meters. It rises above the ground and nears the sky with a lofty and towering  posture. The shadow of it reaches the north of the vast sea, the clouds over it near the south of the handle of the Dipper. It is much like a gate towards the heaven. The wonder attracted the visits and appreciations by emperors, officials, sages, hermits, dignitaries and men of letters of different dynasties. After the accumulation over the dynasties, the unique profound Culture of Heaven is buit up. In 1999, the masters of International stunt flying piloted the planes to fly through Tianmen Cave. The activity gave rising to sensational reactions in the world. There were 800 millions audiences watching the live broadcasting. (quoted from a tourist guide book)

The number of stairs is nine hundreds and ninety nine.  The figure 9 means many to them. Then 999 means many many stairs?  The construction of the 999 stairs seemed well engineered in terms of shape and safety.

On December 11, 1999 the first class aerobatics pilots flew through the Tianmen Cave for the first time in human histroy. The cave is 131.5 meter high and 57 meters in width.

When I returned to the cablecar station, the sun already set and it was dark.... and my China trip ended with satisfaction at having finally wonderful sunny day.

The Most Scary Roadway

I have seen this scary roadway through internet several times before and I had thought I myself would never have an opportunity to take this road but it happened to me during this trip to Zhang Jia Jie, China. It is literally thrilling to look down at the mountain roadway from the sky. I was wondering all the way up and down how this road was built. Anybody can give me an idea? :)

Heaven-linking Avenue has 99 turns symbolizing that the Heaven has nine palaces. The avenue runs upward with the posture of the mountain like the soaring of great dragon and also hangs like a jade belt with zigzag turns circling the hills. It is worth the title wonder of highway in the world. Through heaven-linking avenue, one reaches directly the Tianti-celestial ladder. Tianwang Temple

Tianmen Mountain Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty as a center of Buddhism in the area of western Hunman. The present Tianmen Mountain Temple was rebuilt on the basis of the original site with a plot area of more than 10,000 sqm. It adopts an official style of the Qing Dynasty and the building in the temple compare well with the famous classical houses at home. The temple is located in the mountain hollow with a broad vision. If one gazes into the southeast, all the hills seem t be so small that the temple is really like an overlord.(quoted from a tourist guidebook)

I see the color painting on the pillars, roof edges and wall of temple is more flamboyant than that of Korean buddhist temples.
